Solomon
I had a lecture today and the lecturer put a question out there:
Could Solomon be in hell?
He was the greatest kng in Israel's history with the most riches, he extended the kingdom's boundaries, he built the temple and renewed the covenant for the whole nation. However at the end of his reign he worshipped other God's and never repented of it.
Thoughts?

I think that there is always a possibility that he could be in hell because in comparison with the New Testament and "the unforgiveable sin" of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and Solomon's unrepentive heart I don't see how there could be a difference. I mean we are talking about God's standard for His people. IF they/we are walking away from God or being none repentive then why not? If we are really serving God and understanding completely that we are fallen and sinful and repent of that then unlike Solomon there shouldn't be any question.
hey pete
i've thought about this before,
it would make sense that he is given the requirements for salvation in the new testement.
still i hate thinking about who is/isn't in saved,
who can judge the motives of a mans heart etc...
I am not a fan of that type of questions - because it is based on assumptions of Solomon's heart, God's heart and Gods judgement. I think a better question is did Solomon even have a concept of hell - Shoel does not count as it was a place both the good and bad went....
